The term RSS refers to a syndication format, sometimes known as Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. Each RSS feed is simply a text document containing a list of articles and descriptions. When coupled with a RSS reader you have the ability to stay informed without having to revist the website everyday.
Instead you are shown a list of headlines and descriptions which give you enough information to decide if you want to read the article. For example, the OTrader RSS feed contains a list of our current articles containing only the headline, link and description of each article.
Another benefit of RSS feeds is that they are guaranteed to be spam-free. Whereas in the pre-RSS days you might receive updates about new content through e-mail, the current trend is toward using RSS. With RSS you can't possibly be spammed because the news feed is referenced directly from the content source. You get only the content you ask for, and no one can send you any news that you don't want!
